How to Measure an Area
Measure rectangles, circles, triangles and irregular projects accurately.
Before measuring
Sketch the project, split irregular spaces into simple shapes, and record every dimension with its unit.
Rectangles, circles and triangles
Measure rectangles at right angles. Measure a circle through its centre. For triangles use the perpendicular height, not a sloping side.
Depth
Use the intended finished depth. Ask the supplier for project-specific loose-to-compacted guidance where relevant.
Irregular areas
Divide the outline into simple shapes and total the individual areas.
